The Best Local Burger Joints for National Burger Month-image

May is National Burger Month, meaning that right now is one of the most appropriate times to chow down on a juicy patty with a side of fries. But you deserve to try something a little more unique than your average burger. Below, we’ve highlighted a few different burger spots residents of our Saint James Place Apartments in Milwaukee can try out this month for a better burger. AJ Bombers Milwaukee’s AJ Bombers is all about preserving the best kind of quirky spirit in a burger joint, with everything from marker drawings on the walls, shelled peanuts, and burgers that’ll make your head spin. Whether it’s their burgers with pretzel buns and chipotle cheese or their peanut butter and bacon cheeseburger, creative and class come to a head here in a beautiful way. Locals rave about their fries. There’s a bit of a wait usually, but the service is fast once you’re seated. You can explore their menu more fully over here . Oscar’s Bar & Grill Oscar’s Bar & Grill, as the name might suggest, is as much about gourmet burgers as they are about a diverse in-house beer selection. Whether you go for local favorites like their o-burger with smoked gouda and chorizo, the aloha with ham and pineapple and havarti cheese, or the big foot with crumbled blue cheese, you can’t go wrong. Parm fries with avocado are an extra treat for the hall of fame that exists in your stomach. You can explore the rest of their menu over here. Stack’d Burger Bar Stack’d Burger Bar is all about eating local and fresh, offering a variety of options that feature everything from grass-fed beef to vegan and vegetarian options. They are billed as a restaurant for foodies, but if you aren’t one don’t let that deter you. With burgers like their pizza burger, the hot mess burger with smoked gouda and cheddar and swiss on the same dang patty, or the hangover stack with a fried egg and grilled onions, you’ll feel like you’re in burger heaven here. You can also build your own burger with a variety of toppings. We’d recommend trying their loaded fries. Head over here to see their menu in full.

The Local’s Guide to the Perfect Picnic Parks in Milwaukee-image

Spring is here, bringing sunny, warmer days with it. And better weather means coming out of the safe-keeping of hibernation to enjoy the great and scenic outdoors. When the weather is just right, one of the easiest ways to celebrate is to have yourself a picnic. Below, we highlight the best places in town to do just that for residents of Saint James Place Apartments. Lakeshore State Park Surrounded by water on all sides, this is one of the best places in the city to catch some memorable picturesque skyline and waterfront views. There didn’t used to be as many places to sit, but benches have been added throughout the years that make it easier to enjoy a picnic and take in all the scenery. Walkers, bikers, and runners alike frequent this park because of its twenty acres of beach, prairie areas, and winding trails. You can find more information about the park and its hours over here . South Shore Park An area and building known for weddings and noteworthy celebrations, the adjacent park is where the local picnickers love to throw out a blanket or two. Like Lakeshore, the South Shore Park Pavilion offers some pretty remarkable views of the city and marina. Whether you feel like hanging out near the pier, exploring the jogging paths after your picnic to burn off some calories, or sitting beneath a tree and relaxing in the shade, there’s a place for everyone here, including a big playground for any little ones in tow. You can read more about what people have to say about the park—and the building on site—over yonder . Wilson Park For those days when the wind chill near the water isn’t as pleasant as it would be in warmer weather, Wilson Park is a little bit further away from the shore and a bit more shielded from the cold. With over seventy acres of picnic tables, playground areas for kids, a baseball field ripe for pick-up games with friends, and a fishing pond, there’s plenty to do here. Because it’s a little further removed from the shores, the park is that much more serene. You can read more about the park itself and its adjacent pavilion over here .

See Milwaukee From Above Skydiving-image

If you’ve been living in Milwaukee for any amount of time, you probably feel pretty familiar with the city. You’ve driven along its roads, walked through its parks, and seen its skyline from a distance. Maybe you feel like you know every angle, view, and interesting corner that Milwaukee has. But have you ever seen it from above? Well, if you’ve been looking for an adventure, then soon you will! The first successful freefall and parachute skydiving attempt occurred in the year 1919; now, ninety-five years later, skydiving has become a world-popular sport. In the United States alone, over three million jumps are made each year. And if you’re interested, you can be one of them! Skydive Milwaukee is located about an hour south of Saint James Place Apartments, alongside the East Troy Airport. They offer tandem jumping (skydiving while attached to an instructor who will monitor protocols so beginners can enjoy and learn), skydiving classes, and the opportunity to earn a skydiving license so that you can try it on your own! If you’re worried about safety, you needn’t be — the sport is very safe, and every year new technologies and gadgets are being invented to make it even safer. Tandem skydiving guarantees that you’ll have someone along who could handle any problem that could come up, although it’s unlikely that one would. Check out Skydive Milwaukee’s website for more information on the packages they offer and their pricing, as well as some exciting videos of some of their jumps. Don’t forget to check out their group pricing — skydiving is one adventure that’s made even better with a group of friends to go along! Take some of your neighbors here at Saint James Place, get some amazing pictures, and then let us know in the comments how it went!
